Diploma in Peace Studies (DPS)
THE PROGRAM - Undergraduate Level The course is equivalent to one full time study year at college/university undergraduate level, that is, 15 hours per week for 30 weeks (2 x 15 week semesters) The program comprises conducting in-depth studies on the following course dimensions related to the nature of peace phenoumenon.
1.
Philosophies of Peace and War (including ideological/religious
approaches)
2.
Peace Management (Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling)
3.
Peace Diplomacy 4. Peace Financing
Plus
– A Final Thesis Project of 5,000 – 7,000 words
Note: The course dimensions are not pre-set in specifics due to the elusive nature of peace itself and the subject matter requires openness for new ideas, new feelings and new actions. So participants are required to write more freely and boldly ....... There are no real right or wrong answers, only that you are able to reflect and voice your views and understanding and your ability to present in some organized form of written work as proof of achievement. Finally, the course dimensions are subjected to changes from time to time and these changes will not affect your study. This diploma would integrate into the SCPU Bachelor of Business Management program. METHOD OF TEACHING Assignments, independent reading, Research on Peace Phenoumenon, Peace Event Participation, Peace Workshops Attendance, and related Interventions. Students can email to the course director or supervisor any problem related to their studies.
